My goal is to explore Christian thought and how it relates to the world around us, and present it in a way that allows the believer to be challenged and the non-believer to gain a greater awareness of Christ’s teachings as revealed through the Bible.
For some time now, I have been deeply concerned about where we are going as a nation. I see and hear things that sadden me, frighten and, at times, frustrate me. We are no longer a nation that seeks the truth, but are content to settle for a particular brand of truth. Rather than engage others who may think differently than we do, we have become tribalized, restricting our interchanges to those who are in total agreement with ourselves. This is not how a healthy society maintains its health and continues to grow.
I have watched good Christian friends from all areas of the political spectrum speak about the need for our country to return to God, although I think we each have a different idea of what this return would look like. Toward that end, I believe the only truth that we can all agree on is the One who is the Way, the Truth and the Life. We find His teachings in the Bible, and I want us to return to the Word Incarnate, Jesus Christ, as He presents Himself.
I am not so presumptive as to claim that my interpretation of Scripture is definitive. Each person has to come to their own understanding. I merely offer a starting point for people to consider. You may disagree with me. That’s fine. In fact, if you think I’m wrong, let me know and tell me why and where I’m wrong. I welcome your responses and reactions. Sometimes, a different perspective can help us see more clearly where we need to be and go. All I ask is that we remain civil in our words. It is in the sharing of ideas and thoughts that we challenge ourselves. These challenges allow us to grow, to learn, to move closer to the truth. And that’s what we all want.
